Family of Barbadian fisherman hopeful

Norma Ollivierre, family member of missing Barbadian fisherman Brian Dowridge, remains hopeful that he is alive and well, after not having been seen since January 6, 2011, when he set out to sea.{{more}}

Reports are that Dowridge, 32, of St Stephen’s Hill, Black Rock, left Barbados in a boat registered RB453 in the company of two other men.

The Daily Nation of Barbados reported on February 2 that the men might have perished at sea while on a trip to St Vincent. The others are John Anderson Small, also known as “Surf”, 40, of Railway Road, Carrington Village; and Rommel Lindo “Shark” Martindale, 28, of Bridge Gap, Carrington Village.

There were rumours earlier this week that the men’s bodies had washed ashore here. However, the local Coast Guard and head of Criminal Investigations Department, Willisford Caesar, confirmed that this was not the case.

Since the men’s disappearance, Coast Guard units from around the region have joined in the search for the men.

Ollivierre told SEARCHLIGHT that the local Coast Guard has been helpful in the search for her relative and thanked them for their efforts.(KW)
