GECCU donates EC$10,000 towards recovery efforts

The General Employees’ Co-operative Credit Union Ltd (GECCU) has announced plans to support recovery efforts to mitigate the devastating impact of Hurricane Tomas.{{more}}

As part of its social responsibility, GECCU will make an initial donation of $10,000.00 worth of supplies which will be distributed under the guidance of NEMO to emergency shelters, where approximately 1,200 persons are being sheltered as a result of damage to their properties.

In addition to this, field visits will be made to members throughout the country to ascertain damage to the housing and agriculture sectors. A pledge has been made to work closely with GECCU members who are farmers, to assist with their finance and rehabilitation concerns.

GECCU also announced that the special “WEATHERING THE STORM” loan facility will be further extended to accommodate members’ requests for financing of restorative work to their homes.

On Monday, November 8, 2010, GECCU will also be launching its “WATER TANK FACILITY LOAN” at concessionary rates to assist with the alleviation of water challenges, especially in times of disaster.

GECCU is committed to working hand in hand with all other agencies in this country-wide recovery effort.
