Jack attended the conference – which ran from Monday, September 6, to Thursday, September 9 – with 22 other delegates from around the region, North America and Europe.

The conference, which was hosted by the Guyana Post Office Corporation (GPOC), addressed challenges that the Caribbean postal service faces, and the way forward for the industry.

Topics covered included ‘Global trends in postal markets’, ‘Opportunities and challenges in small economies’, ‘Regional positioning of post’, and ‘Institutionalizing the post’.

During the conference, the CARICOM Secretariat hosted a workshop, ‘Linking postal and courier services in the CSME’, that was described by GPOC Public Relations Officer Yolaskee Jervis as the “benchmark of this year’s conference”.

Jervis added that the Caribbean Postal Union provides regional postal administrations with a “platform to address collective issues” and “technical support”.
