Fridayâs Exhibition and sale took place under the Singer Gallery from 10:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. It marked the culmination of the two-week YOUBET Summer Programme, held under theme, âSecuring our Economic Future: Unlocking the Entrepreneurial Potential of Youthâ.
This yearâs programme introduced youths to agri-business, jewelry making and designing as viable means of employment. It also created awareness of the opportunities that exist for entrepreneurship, and an avenue for raising the profile of these fields in St. Vincent & the Grenadines by engaging the participants in theoretical as well as practical exercises.
CEDâs Public Relations Officer Keisha Phillips appealed to the public to support the youths.
âThe YOUBET Summer Programme is designed to help our young people choose and develop alternative careers and business skills, and these participants have displayed much creativity in this yearâs programme. We are therefore hoping that they get the support they are anticipating from the public,â said Phillips, at Fridayâs exhibition and sale.
While developing their entrepreneurial skills, participants in the jewelry making class spent their time making a variety of necklaces, earrings, rings and bangles. They were trained by Evadnee Phillips.
Participants in the fashion designing class made their outfits under the supervision of veteran designer, Patrice Reddock.
The Agri-Business participants were also engaged in a debating competition on Friday morning at The Knowledge Institute.
