‘Parents must play their part’

Senior Education Officer, Carlton Hall, says parents should be an integral part of their children’s education and

Hall made this point at the recently held General Employees Co-operative Credit Union (GECCU) 8th Annual scholarship awards ceremony 2010.

“It is fine by many parents that children are sent to school on a daily a basis and they think the school would take care of the education of their children….The home has an integral part to play, for without the support from home, we might end up in disaster,” Hall stated.

Hall urged the students at the packed Methodist Church Hall in Kingstown to aim to do well so they can have the opportunity to earn a national scholarship.

“You can only get these scholarships if you perform well…be a national scholarship winner, we need you to come back here and be doctors…”, he urged.
