The workshop, which is funded by the European Union, is taking place at the Girlsâ High School (GHS).
Participants are being trained and certified to conduct assessments for the Caribbean Vocational Qualification (CVQ); with some being trained as master assessors, while others would be trained as internal and external verifiers.
The participants will also be trained in the process of auditing of facilities.
The Ministry of Education hosted workshop, is just one of the actions undertaken by the Ministry in preparation for the establishment and operation of a Sector Skills Development Agency.
According to Chief Education Officer, Lou-Anne Gilchrist, who spoke at the official opening ceremony on Thursday, August 5, considerable investment have already been made in technical and vocational education, as well as training.
She said the current workshop was a means of building on what had taken place before.
Gilchrist stated that the investments being made at the local level, reflects the governmentâs commitment to provide quality education and training, as well as equipping persons with the necessary skills for personal and national development.
âWe are striving for the achievement of a workforce that is well trained with skills needed for a changing labour market, and who will be able to participate meaningfully in an increasingly competitive regional and international environment.â
The workshop is being facilitated by lecturers from the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Community College Division of Technical and Vocational Education and the National Training Agency of Trinidad and Tobago.
