Three Vincentians awarded Taiwan ICDF Scholarship

After six young Vincentians received Taiwan Scholarships on June 29 to study for bachelor’s degrees in Taiwan, three more Vincentians have been awarded the Taiwan International Cooperation and Development Fund (ICDF) Scholarship to pursue postgraduate degrees.{{more}} So far this year, nine scholarships have been awarded by Taiwan.

These three new recipients are Andre Williams, Geneille Greaves and Rowena King. Both Williams and Greaves will study for a master’s degree in Environment Sustainable Development at the National Central University; whereas King will pursue a master’s degree in Marine Sciences and Resource Management at the National Taiwan Ocean University.

To help St. Vincent with human resources development, Taiwan has been offering six to 10 scholarships annually to Vincentians desirous of pursuing undergraduate or graduate degrees at Taiwanese universities since 2004. Up to now, 39 Vincentians have been awarded scholarships. Some of the awardees graduated since 2009.

Furthermore, Taiwan will offer two more scholarships in Mandarin language enhancement programme this year. Those who are interested in learning Chinese in Taiwan for six to 12 months may contact the Embassy for more information.
