Baptiste elected to NDP’s executive

As the New Democratic Party (NDP) prepares for the upcoming general elections, firebrand activist, {{more}} Anesia Baptiste, has been elected to the Party’s executive.

She replaces Maxim James as Assistant General Secretary.

When contacted, Vynette Frederick, Public Relations Office of the NDP told SEARCHLIGHT James was not in a position to continue in that position.

Dentist Dr. Bernard Mills is also a new addition to the executive. He replaces Cameron Balcombe as Treasurer.

Frederick said the other positions went unopposed.

Arnhim Eustace remains the Party’s President; Dr. Godwin Friday and Senator St. Clair Leacock, Vice Presidents; Dr. Linton Lewis, Chairman; Allan Cruickshank, General Secretary; and Vynnette Frederick, PRO.

“Every convention where elections are done, there is always a feeling of excitement. This convention was different, as a matter of fact, the excitement was heightened because this is our last convention before general elections,” said Frederick, noting that general elections are constitutionally due before the next convention.

The PRO said the delegations have spoken and the NDP was pleased to have the new executive constituted in its present form.

“We are very much prepared and ready to move forward and contest the next general elections.”(HN)
