NDP to drop bombshell at Convention – Frederick
The New Democratic Party (NDP) might be dropping a âproverbial bombâ at its convention on Sunday.
âI think there is something special. I am not sure it will be divulged on convention day, but I strongly suspect so. The proverbial bomb is going to be dropped. I canât give you the details yet,â NDP public relations officer, Vynnette Frederick, told SEARCHLIGHT on Wednesday.
âWe consider it to be the convention before the elections, because we consider ourselves to be in election mode at the moment,â she said.
The convention will hear addresses from all NDP candidates for the next general elections, including party leader and Member of Parliament for East Kingstown, Arnhim Eustace.{{more}}
NDP founder and former prime minister, Sir James Mitchell, will also address the convention, the NDPâs 32nd.
âWe have no overseas speakers. Our invited speakers are locally based. It is about the election. It is a convention with a view to stepping up into election mode,â Frederick said.
âSome of the areas that we will be handling in the manifesto will come up, some of our manifesto issues, the big issues.â
Among these âmajor issuesâ are healthcare, transparency, good governance and the state of the economy.
âThe major prongs of governance across the board, all the elements, we will be tackling,â Frederick said. (KXC)
