Airport Terminal building delayed

The scheduled commencement of construction works on the terminal building and other ancillary facilities of the Argyle International Airport has been delayed.{{more}}

Prime Minister Dr Ralph Gonsalves made the announcement at a function on Monday, July 12, saying that the bidding process was proving to be very competitive and the construction companies had requested more time to submit bids.

“We were hoping to have the contract signed this month (July), but we are going to have the contract signed for construction in August,” the prime minister explained.

Therefore, the construction of the facilities is now expected to begin in the middle of September, rather than mid-August.

“The terminal building will be a month to six weeks behind,” Dr Gonsalves said, adding that despite the setback, he was advised that there will not be any alteration to the completion date.

“We still intend to deliver the terminal building and other facilities by March, 2012,” he said. (DD)
