Red Cross donates to Haiti fund
Six months after the earthquake that devastated southern Haiti and left an estimated 1.3 million homeless, the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Red Cross Society has once more delivered a monetary contribution in excess of US$24,000 to the Regional Red Cross office in Trinidad.{{more}}
This, along with additional funds that were accumulated through the efforts of corporate citizens, banking institutions, schools, civic organizations and ordinary citizens, have brought the total amount delivered by the St. Vincent office to the Regional office to a figure in excess of US$88,000.
To date, two shipments of food, clothing and bottled water, properly labeled with the Red Cross Emblem have been dispatched to the local National Emergency Management Organization (NEMO) and were shipped to Haiti.
The St. Vincent and the Grenadines Red Cross organization is still accepting donations. Monetary contributions can be made to SVG Red Cross Haiti Relief Fund at RBTT bank account number 2184240.
