Taiwan Youth Ambassador Delegation to visit SVG

In response to Prime Minister Dr. Gonsalves’ appeal for more youth exchanges between St. Vincent and the Grenadines and Taiwan, a ‘Taiwan Youth Ambassador Delegation’ will visit St. Vincent and the Grenadines in July.{{more}}

The Delegation comprises six university students and one teacher. They are scheduled to hold a two-week summer camp in the Community College from July 12 to July 23.

The main purpose of the delegation’s visit is to increase interaction and understanding among the young generations between the two countries. Therefore, during the camp, the delegation has prepared many interesting and useful programmes such as sport, music, computer skill, business knowledge and Chinese language, etc., to share with local students, a release from the Taiwanese Embassy said.

The sports course for example, will introduce taekwondo, cheer leading and table tennis.

The Taiwan Embassy is closely cooperating with the Ministry of Education and the SVG Community College to help organize the Vincentian students and prepare related equipment and classrooms. On July 12, an opening ceremony will be held in the Community College. A closing presentation performed together by the Vincentian students, local cultural groups and the Delegation is scheduled as well.

With the assistance of the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Culture, the delegation will be taught to play the steel pan and dance the Maypole by local students and some distinguished cultural groups.

The Delegation is from the National Chengchi University in Taiwan. The six students are Amy Chih-Ching LAN, Sherry Yun-Ru LAI, Pablo Cheng-Yu HSIEH, Lily Hui CHANG, Rachel Chih-Ju SHIH and Tony Nien-Tzu HU. The Leader is Professor Yen-Lung TSAI.
