SVG Air: Fly from Hewanorra International to St. Vincent

From Tuesday this week, passengers travelling to St Vincent via St Lucia have been enjoying the convenience of a direct connection from St Lucia’s Hewanorra International Airport to St Vincent.{{more}}

With the exception of one daily flight, LIAT’s scheduled flights from St Lucia to St Vincent are currently routed via Barbados, meaning that passengers may have to spend 5 or 6 hours for what should be a simple 30-minute hop.

Further, St Lucia has two airports – international flights arrive at Hewanorra, whereas inter-island flights depart from George Charles airport, requiring passengers to take an expensive, one-hour taxi ride between the two airports.

Over the past year, there has been a considerable increase in the number of international flights arriving at Hewanorra, both from North America and from Europe, and for most passengers, flying via St Lucia is considerably less expensive than connecting via Barbados or San Juan.

The inauguration of SVG Air’s flight from Hewanorra to St Vincent will not only enable passengers to access St Vincent more easily and less expensively, but is also likely to considerably increase the number of overseas arrivals to SVG.

SVG Air is, after LIAT, the second largest air carrier in the Eastern Caribbean and currently offers scheduled flights throughout the Grenadines and also from Barbados and Grenada. Additionally, they operate two business jets.
