SVGCIC hosts cocktail reception

The St Vincent Chamber of Industry and Commerce, in conjunction with the St Lucia Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture, last week hosted a business cocktail reception.{{more}}

Persons from several business houses in and around Kingstown gathered at the New Montrose Hotel on Tuesday, May 18, to view some of the products offered by the seven St Lucian businesses as part of the chamber’s business mission.

The businesses on display were: Lubeco, St Lucia Coconut Growers Association, Accela Marketing, Clay Products Limited, Advanced Intellectual Methods Inc., Solar Dynamic Ec Ltd and Caribbean Blue-Natural Basics.

Executive Director of the St Lucia Chamber of Commerce, Brian Louisy, explained that the aim of the business meet was to give St Vincent a taste of some of the products and services St Lucia has to offer, and in return forge greater business relationships between both countries.

The business mission, which also travelled to Grenada for a similar event on Wednesday and Thursday, is sponsored by the European Union.

Louisy added that his group is working closely with the local Chamber of Commerce to establish networking and develop business ties.

Meanwhile, President of the Chamber of Industry and Commerce, Angus Steele welcomed the initiative and said that he hoped that they afford St Vincent the opportunity to have local businesses on display in their country.

“I think there is a lot of opportunity to be derived from such an initiative. It is a very positive thing for us and discussions have been held with the St Lucian chamber for future plans,” Steele said.

Project Manager of Advanced Intellectual Methods Inc, Velcia Augustine, said that her company, which provides services, including advanced web development and graphic designs, welcomed the opportunity to display its services outside of St Lucia and was pleased at the interest showed in the company. “We do not want to limit our services to just St Lucia, but we are aiming to incorporate other businesses,” she stated.

Some of the local business persons also voiced their satisfaction at products on display as they mingled with each other. (KW)
