Public Relations Officer of Digicel Nelson Bloc Sean âTannaâ Brewster received the sponsorship money from Marketing Manager at Digicel Juno DeRoche last Monday during the bandâs launch of their 2010 production called âWe Areâ. The handing over was witnessed by Band Leader Alverne Cadougan. The launch took place at the Bishopâs College Hard Court in Paulâs Avenue.
Brewster, who thanked Digicel for their support, revealed that the Mas Band has recently renewed a three-year contract with the telecommunications company. He added that this year the group is hoping to receive their 10th Band of the Year Title. âWe are tied with Heineken Dragons for nine titles, so this year we are looking to go one step ahead of them,â said Brewster who added: âSince Digicel came, they have been sponsoring Nelson Bloc, so persons can always look forward to bigger and better things from us.â
The 2010 production has eight sections and, according to Brewster, âacknowledges wise choices we have made as a band for the last 27 years and that we have made on a whole as a country.â
The sections of the band are: Together, Organic, Protectors, Champions, Believers, Seekers (Children Section), Green (Children Section) and Mas Lovers.
âWe looked at ourselves as an organisation and also as a country. What we did was basically divided between the organisation and the country,â said Brewster, who added that Digicel Nelson Bloc is very organized and extremely aware of masqueradersâ needs.
He said: âWe want our masqueraders to have fun on the road, so Iâm encouraging persons to come and play with Digicel Nelson Bloc because we try to help you out as much as possible and we cater for you financially with our lay away programmeâ.
Meanwhile, Digicel Marketing Manager Juno DeRoche commented: â This is just one of Digicelâs ways of giving back to our loyal customers. Our goal is to support the development of culture in St. Vincent and the Grenadines.â
