The bank, which was represented by Public Relations Officer Cheryl Rodriguez and Lisa Sheen, donated 160 coloring books to the grade three class of the KPS, while 100 colouring books were donated to the grade three class of the CW Prescod Primary School.

Speaking at both schools, Rodriguez explained the importance of saving and the functions of the Bank.

“We want you to be able to save wisely, to spend wisely, so when you leave school you will be able to contribute to the economy,” Rodriguez said. She also informed the children at both schools of the benefits of saving, encouraging them to save with the NCB.

The book is called “My Favourite Bank Book and Educational Colouring and Activity Book”. “NCB Cares” pens were also handed over to the teachers of the schools.

The Headteachers of the two schools extended gratitude to the NCB for the donation of the supplies. Hyacinth Harry, Headteacher of the CW Prescod Primary School, said that the books came at a suitable time as they are trying to improve literacy levels in the school.

“This donation will go a long way in the development of the children’s literacy skills,” Harry said.

Donations of books and pens will also be made to the following schools: Canouan Government, Bequia Seventh Day Adventist, Barrouallie Government, Mary Hutchinson Primary and the Georgetown Primary. A total of 500 books will be donated.
