Leo Club SVG to host 11th Annual Primary Schools’ Reading Competition

The Leo Club St. Vincent will host the Finals of its eleventh Annual Primary Schools’ Reading competition tomorrow, Saturday, 21 November, 2009, at the Kingstown Methodist Church Hall from 2:00pm.{{more}}

This year’s finalists are Adriann Straker of the Buccament Government; Joleen Grant of the Stubbs Government; Breyan Rogers of the Brighton Methodist; Kadmiel Charles of the Fair Hall Primary; Aranique Jackson of the Kingstown Preparatory; Joshanna Alexander of the Calliaqua Anglican; and Racelle Bradshaw of the Dorsetshire Hill Government.

For this year’s competition, the preliminary round saw a different format as students were asked to submit an essay on the topic ‘Why I am Proud to Be Vincentian’. At tomorrow’s finals, the students will be asked to read their essay, as well as read a spontaneous passage and answer questions based on this passage.

The Leo Club St. Vincent, through this year’s activity, continues to focus on one of its mandates of engaging is activities centered on youth and development.
