The first set of workshops was held on Saturday, September 5, at the Keartons Club House, Barrouallie, and the Old Bishop’s College Building, Georgetown. These will continue on September 12 at the same venues.

On September 19 and 26, SIF will journey to Marriaqua to conduct sessions there.

The workshops aim to enhance the capacity of community leaders and facilitators in the planning management and implementation of community development processes.

Participants will be exposed to information on project preparation, leadership, financial management and group registration as legal entities.

The sessions begin at 8:30 in the morning and end at 3:30 in the afternoon.

SIF is appealing to all Non-governmental Organisations (NGO) and Community Based Organisations (CBO) to register to attend the sessions. Interested persons are invited to contact SIF at 456-6853 or 532-8726.

Kenny Baker will facilitate the Project Writing sessions, while Curtis King and Philbert John will conduct the Leadership workshops. St. Clair Stapleton and Marlon Stevenson will conduct the Financial Management sessions and Mr. Saboto Caesar will speak on the Group Registration process.

A special workshop will be held on September 23 on accessing government funds and resources. This will be facilitated by Edmund Jackson.

SIF invests in community-based projects as a means of empowering communities and building social capital as well as involving communities in identifying, prioritising, planning, managing and monitoring their own development projects.
