Eight Girl Guides and two Guiders left the state on Wednesday, 22nd July, for England and Belgium to participate in an International Camp at scouting centre âHopper De Kluisâ in Sint-Joris Weert, Belgium, from 29th July to 8th August, 2009.{{more}}
Courtnae Bailey, Fleur Blugh, Sharleen Branch, Meisha Charles, Brittney Cole, Olivia Haslam, Kiima Roberts and Simone Veira, all now fifth form students, were accompanied by Camp Commissioner of St Vincent and the Grenadines Jean Charles, and Guider Marla Nanton.
The SVG contingent is one of 30 countries participating and is the only Caribbean nation represented. The camp will cater to 571 international and 485 national guides and scouts between the ages of 14 and 18, with 251 Service members taking the total to 1307 participants. The Guides will return to England for a further two weeks before returning to the state on August 21, 2009.
