Delegates from various countries, including South Africa, as well as representatives from the World Bank and the European Commission attended the event, which sought to build capacity and sensitize policy makers, public and private business institutions and other stakeholders on the concept of business incubators and their roles in the development of enterprises.

The participants also held discussions on ways to move forward in the development of business incubators in the Caribbean.

Training sessions were conducted in various areas, including client selection, marketing for incubators, virtual business incubators and incubator issues and problems they encounter.

The workshop’s opening ceremony, which took place on Monday, heard addresses from Roshan Seebaluck, team leader of the Regional Management Office, Infodev facilitator Julian Webb, Ram Venuprasad, an advisor from the Commonwealth secretariat and Minister of Telecommunications Dr. Jerrol Thompson who officially launched the CBIA.(JJ)
