The brainchild of local designer Karen DeFreitas-Fraser, the upcoming GenX Fashion Show will give young designers and artisans the opportunity to showcase their talent. Taking place on July 24th, 2009, at the Peace Memorial Hall, the show will feature collections by young designers Naudica Williams, Sherika Sayers, Nickella Bridgewater, Samantha Ince, Jeremy Payne, Lisa Cordice, Chrystal Daniel and Karen DeFreitas Fraser. Godwin Charles and Reba Allen will also make presentations.
There will also be artwork on display by members of the Contemporary Youth Art Movement, and guest performances by dance company Arabesque and others.
DeFreitas-Fraser explained that everyone involved in the production of this show is aged 21 and under. âItâs about the talent of youths. Itâs an avenue of expression where the arts entwine.â She also divulged that she is hoping to make this a yearly event, once the appropriate sponsorship can be secured.
Other members of the organizing committee include Moureeze Franklyn, Karina Williams, Shanelle Grant and Kimeisha Bailey.
The show is scheduled to start at 7:30pm and tickets cost $25. More information can be obtained by calling 532 1658 or 430 7055
