PM Gonsalves resting

After travelling extensively during the last month, Prime Minister Dr. Ralph Gonsalves is now suffering from fatigue.{{more}}

This was revealed by Mike Browne, Minister of National Mobilization and acting Prime Minister, after SEARCHLIGHT questioned him about the Prime Minister’s absence from Cabinet Room last Tuesday morning where he was scheduled to receive a donation from the Government of Taiwan for the YES Programme and the construction of a Learning Resource Centre.

Browne disclosed that the Prime Minister was slated to travel to London last weekend but could not make that trip. Within the last few weeks, Dr.Gonsalves has traveled to Dominica, Guyana, Venezuela, the United Kingdom, the United States, and Libya.

“Essentially, he is fatigued. You know Prime Minister. He goes non-stop, and we have been asking him to take a vacation. I think it’s at a point now where his body just simply needs a rest. It’s nothing, as far as we are aware, graver than that,” said Browne.

Minister Browne added: “I think he will be on his feet…but it’s not anything dramatic that we should be overly concerned about.”

Browne said he is confident that the nation will be happy that the Prime Minister is getting some rest and a bit of time off.

“I trust that the media will not phone the house and would allow him to indeed enjoy a little rest day, a little break,” said Browne.

The Prime Minister was expected to deliver an address yesterday at a national consultation to contextualize the Poverty Report which has recently been received in draft form.(HN)
