When Judith Hull Ballah picked the number eight ball for Digicelâs âMad Moneyâ promotions, she knew it had to mean something special and indeed it did.{{more}}
On Friday July 3, at the Grenadine House, Ballah became the first person to win $20,000 during a grand draw that was held among ten finalists. A total of $100,000 will be given away by the end of the promotion in August.
Speaking to SEARCHLIGHT after her win, the exhilarated Biabou resident indicated that she was born in the month of August and felt that she would have won since she picked the ball which matched her birth month. A specialist in early childhood education, Ballah revealed that she plans to give 10 per cent of her winnings to her church so that they can get their literacy program off the ground.
Ballah, who disclosed that she purchases a Digiflex top-up card almost everyday, said she intends to buy a new car since she sold the one she owned previously. âGod knew that I needed the money and he provided,â she noted.
Ballah commended Digicel for their outstanding service and thanked them for putting on such a draw. The other finalists received cash prizes, cellular phones and free call credit.
Meanwhile, Marketing Manager of Digicel, Juno DeRoche said that the draw was the companyâs way of thanking persons for being a Digicel customer. She added that in these hard economic times, it is hard for some to even come by $10 and Digicel is looking to try and make those hardships a thing of the past.
Marketing Executive Edmund Joachim, indicated that he enjoys the fact that persons are taking part in the promotion and that they are not only given the chance to win money, but also other prizes.
Persons are automatically entered into the draw when they pay their bills on time, Top-up their accounts with $15 or more and talk for three minutes on any call. The second grand-prize draw is slated for July 17.
