SVGBA hosts Annual Law Week

The St. Vincent and the Grenadines Bar Association will host their Annual Law week this year under the theme “Lawyers for Charity”. The law week, which runs from June 2nd to 7th, 2009, will include numerous activities, including a “Law Lympics”.{{more}}

The week starts off with a pro bono day on Tuesday 2nd, following that, a career day will take place on Wednesday 3rd. A mock trial at the University of the West Indies Open Campus is scheduled to take place on Thursday at 7:30 pm. The general public is invited to attend.

The charity activity will be held on Friday, 5th June, when the Bar Association will paint the Lewis Punnet Home. Proceeds from their “Law Lympics” scheduled for Saturday, June 6th, at the Sion Hill Playing Field, will also go toward the Lewis Punnet home. The Law Lympics will bring together members of the Bar, along with members of the Royal St. Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force, to participate in games such as Tug-O-War, Egg and Spoon race and Horseback riding. The Law Llympics will run from 8 am to 9 pm. Admission is $5 for adults and $2 for children.

The law week wraps up with a discussion on Hitz FM talk show Hitz Talk on Sunday, June 7th. “Same Sex Marriages” and “Capital Punishment” will be the topics discussed.
