Ministry to hold symposium on revised Treaty of Chaguaramas

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Commerce and Trade is embarking on a series of symposia to examine in detail the various articles detailed in the “Revised Treaty of Chaguaramas Establishing the Caribbean Community Including the CARICOM Single Market and Economy”.{{more}} Senior officials of government ministries and departments, and members of the private sector have been invited to participate.

The first session will be held on Monday, May 4th, and will cover areas such as the Principles governing the Revised Treaty, Institutional Arrangements, Establishment, Services, Capital and Movement of Community Nationals.

Discussions will be led by representatives of the CARICOM Secretariat, and professionals within the private sector and public service.

Monday’s session will begin with an opening ceremony at which the Acting Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Commerce and Trade, Sir Louis Straker, will deliver the main address. Remarks will also be given by a representative of the CARICOM Secretariat and officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Commerce and Trade.

The symposium takes place at the Conference Room of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Commerce and Trade and begins at 9.00 on Monday morning.
