Cupid pierces Nex Level bowling

Former St. Vincent and the Grenadines and Windwards middle order batsman Gosnel Cupid was in dominant form last weekend in the Dr. Linton Lewis Calliaqua Area Development Committee (CADO) Softball Cricket Competition.{{more}}

Cupid led the way with the bat for Unit One to a commanding nine-wicket win over Nex Level. Cupid struck 84 not out, and aided by Felix Greaves’ 50 not out, pushed Unit One to 165 for 1, in response to Nex Level’s 164.

Deptor Culzac had earlier hit 54, to power Nex Level to a challenging total, before Cupid stole the show. Kenny Cadougan, 2 for 25, and O ‘Reilly Byron, 2 for 36, were Unit One’s top bowlers.

Also, Glen United scored a 70 run win over Old Trafford. Glen reached 140 for 7 off their 20 overs. Trevor Bailey was the topscorer with 33. Ricky King added 24, and Dominic Stowe, 21.Ronald Medford had 3 for 15 and Glenroy Holder, 2 for 26, bowling for Old Trafford.

Derry Roberts lashed 34 in a losing cause, as Old Trafford was strangled by the bowling of Wayne Garraway, who bagged 4 for 20.

Similarly, Police posted 192 for 4 off their 20 overs against Dynamic Girls. Gerald Gould slammed 79 not out and Osrick James was 40 not out. Enken Richards also helped himself top 37 against the ladies.

Dynamic Girls was three runs for one wicket when rain brought an end to the match. The other scheduled match saw W & J Construction winning by default over Older Boys.

Another five matches are slated for this weekend, at the competition venue, the Calliaqua Playing Field.

On Saturday from 12:30 pm, S. G De Freitas meets D’ Veterans, and from 3:30, Irie Travel Johnnie Walker Flyers will face W & J Construction.

On Sunday, Older Boys meets Fair Trade Cool Guys, from 9: am. Flyers and Jus Fuh De Fun play, from 12: 30 pm, with the capper at 3 between Glen United Karaoke Groovers. (RT)
