While a lot of Vincentians were enjoying Vincy Mas 2008, Shelly-Anne Simmons and her mom Elma Ashton used the opportunity to journey to St.Kitts for seven days free of cost.{{more}}

Their trip was a result of their winning the Digicel Fathers Day promotion, where users of the Digicel service were asked to text “dad” to 6677. Apart from winning the trip, Simmons was also given US$200 spending money, hotel accommodation and departure tax both ways.

She and her mom left the country on Thursday, July 3rd. “I feel great to have won the trip, and I took the trip now because I am not really a Carnival fan,” said Simmons who revealed she texted the number only once. It is the first time that the Spring Village resident visited St.Kitts. Her mom, who seemed the more excited of the two commented, “I feel great because I always support Digicel and sometimes I take my one ten dollars and buy phone card, so I am very grateful because they give me back something now.”

Ashton said that she, like her daughter, was not a Carnival fan. On hand to hand over the tickets and wish mom and daughter a good trip were Marketing Manager at Digicel Juno DeRoche and Marketing Executive Edmund Joachim.

Said DeRoche, “I am happy that we could reward our loyal Digicel customers. It always is a pleasure to see that what we are offering makes persons happy”.
