Paul’s Avenue resident batting with Digicel

20.JUNE.08

Thanks to Digicel, Paul’s Avenue resident and cricket lover Indera Charles now has in her possession a cricket bat signed by the 2008 West Indies Cricket team. Charles, who is now pregnant, says that the bat is for her baby.

She texted Chris Gayle to 4748 after reading Digicel’s cricket promotion question in the newspaper. {{more}} The question was, “What is the name of the Captain of the West Indies team of the Digicel Home Series?” “I just tried for fun, but I really wanted to win the other prize which was a Sony-Ericsson phone,” said Charles who revealed that she has been using the same Panasonic GD68 phone for five years. In a show of goodwill, Marketing Manager at Digicel Juno DeRoche upgraded Charles’ handset to a LG-MG160b. ‘I feel very very good to get the upgrade because my old phone was blanking out at times. When I came here, I just expected to get a bat, but now I have a phone also,” explained Charles, who says that she will keep the old phone as a souvenir.

Meanwhile, come tomorrow, Saturday, June 21, and Sunday, June 22, the Digicel Cricket Experience (DCE) bowls off at the Grammar School Playing Field from 10a.m. to 5 p.m. Children can work along with cricket coaches and members of the Scotia Bank Kiddie Cricket Club to improve their game. DeRoche is encouraging persons “to come out and have fun, as there will be batting, bowling and also gifts to be given away”.
