Outstanding physician passes

Outstanding Vincentian physician Dr Carlos Mulraine died suddenly in Barbuda on Thursday, March 20. He was 69 years old.{{more}}
Dr Mulraine, who was St. Vincentâs 1957 Island Scholar, studied Medicine at the University of the West Indies, Jamaica. Upon graduation, he accepted a position with the Bahamas Government and became that nationâs Chief Medical Health Officer.
His service in the Bahamas was interrupted with a short stint from 1973 – 1974 as Senior Medical Officer in St.Vincent. He then returned to his old post in the Bahamas from which he retired about ten years ago.
Not one for standing still, he then became Chief Medical Officer of Antigua and Barbuda. He ended his employment about three years ago, and was doing locum in Barbuda at the time of his death.
Left to mourn the loss are his daughter Candace in the Bahamas, sisters Ynolde Adams in Canada, Merle Millington and Beryl Richards in St. Vincent; brothers Reverend Jemmott Hazlewood in Trinidad, Bruce and Leroy Mulraine in St. Vincent, several nieces, nephews, in-laws and other relatives in Canada and the Caribbean, and numerous co-workers and friends in the UK, USA and the Caribbean. A post mortem was expected to have been carried out yesterday. No date or venue for the funeral service has been announced.
