Lodge Village takes hats off to reading

Whether it’s through story telling, science, songs or jingles, the students of the Lodge Village Government School made the point in their Reading Extravaganza that reading is fundamental in each and every aspect of life.{{more}}

The school held its reading day on Monday, as part of the Ministry of Education’s “Hats off to reading programme”.

Reading coordinator Shirla John said that the students were enthusiastic in preparation for their big reading day.

John indicated that the grade one to six were busy all week making books, hats and preparing their presentations for the big day.

Monday’s extravaganza saw the students at their best, as they went through their routines in the form of poetry, songs, stories, and even an explanation of the food chain.

Some parents were on hand to share the reading experience with their children at the school, and students in grade six were also involved in the distribution of flyers to members of the community as part of the extravaganza.(JJ)
