As part of its 30th Anniversary celebrations and the NCB’s new thrust, the physical conditions of Bascombe’s home were greatly improved. Work commenced in June, the month in which the NCB was established 30 years ago.

The handing over ceremony was addressed by Derry Williams, Deputy Chief Executive Officer, Desmond Morgan, Chairman of the Board of Directors, and attended by other senior members of Staff.

In his remarks, Derry Williams said that the Bank decided to make its contribution to national development in a new and tangible way by being involved in deserving community projects. This first project was identified, as it was felt that Bascombe has been and still is making an outstanding contribution.

Desmond Morgan stated that on becoming the Chairman of the Board of Directors six years ago, he had a vision of the direction he would like the Bank to take, and this is the first of the kind of Community projects which the Bank will undertake.

In his response, Bascombe expressed his deep appreciation to the NCB for improving his physical situation. He said he thought about accepting the offer for a long time before agreeing. He wished the NCB continued success.

Cheryl Rodriguez, the Bank’s PRO and resident of the Marriaqua Valley who co-ordinated the project, praised Bascombe for his undaunting spirit, hard work and commitment towards Sports and Community activities. She said that he has been and continues to be an inspiration, and expressed her pleasure working with him over the past months.
