Villagers: ‘This is how we did it’

Villagers of Arnos Vale and the surrounding communities turned up on Saturday, September 22, 2007, to confirm that it was team work which led to the successful completion of the clean-up campaign held on Saturday, 15th September, 2007. The occasion was the presentation of certificates by AVESCO to the participants in the Arnos Vale leg of the clean-up project.{{more}}

The vicious attack on the garbage and unwanted material throughout SVG was initiated by the Solid Waste Management Unit and the National Coordinating Committee in commemoration of International Coastal Clean-up Day, celebrated on Saturday, 15th September, 2007.

The Arnos Vale leg of the Campaign was coordinated by AVESCO, in partnership with The Upper Cane Hall Adult Literacy Group and Friends, The Youth Group of the Hope for Life Restoration Ministries, The Youth Group of the Arnos Vale Methodist Church, Students of the Community College residing in the area, Members of District Councils C, D, E and H, members of AVESCO and friends from Arnos Vale and the surrounding areas.

The participants all turned up not only to receive their individual certificates from AVESCO but to say thanks to Richardson Motors Ltd, Sol EC Ltd, St. Vincent Motors Ltd, St. Vincent Manufacturing Co. Ltd, Highway Trading Co. Ltd, St. Vincent Electricity Services Ltd, Log Enterprises, Coreas Hazells Inc., East Caribbean Group of Companies, Elvis Endeavour, Valarie Francis, Sandra Wilkinson, the Media and the National Coordinating Committee. These individuals, groups and business houses all rallied to ensure high community spirit and a successful community clean-up project.
