Vincentians shaken up by quake

Early yesterday morning, Thursday, September 13, at 2:37 a.m. local time, residents in many parts of this country were shaken awake by an earthquake, which occurred northeast of Saint Lucia.

According to the University of the West Indies Seismic Research Unit, the preliminary location for the event is 14.28°N 60.41°W. The focal depth was approximately 57 km. The earthquake had a magnitude is 4.9, and was reported widely felt in Saint Lucia and St. Vincent. There have been no reports of damage or injuries.
