Motorcycle club ends ‘Back to School’ ride

The SVG Motorcycle Association on Sunday, September 9, completed two weekends of their Back to School Gift Share Ride. On Sunday 2nd September, the bikers hit the villages on the Leeward side and on the 9th to the Windward side of the island distributing books and other school supplies to needy children. The Association received contributions from local business houses including Kids Plus, Irie Travel, A & T Store and Moussa & Sons.{{more}}

The SVG Motorcycle Association also continues its fundraising events by hosting weekly parties in South Rivers and Barbeques. The Association is seeking to raise funds to help in their upcoming Independence Activities.

This year’s activities will include the annual Miss Biker Babes show. Currently there are eight prospective contestants, but patrons will have to come to the show on Friday 26th October, to see who will be crowned Miss Biker Babe 2007. The new Miss Biker Babe will become the new ambassador for the Association and follow in the steps of 2006 winner Melissa Ash, who plays a very active role in the Association’s fund raising activities and charity events.

On Independence Day the bikers aim to take their annual Independence Ride to the island of Bequia. This will be the first time such an event will be held in the Grenadines. On Sunday, 28th October, all bikers and bike enthusiasts will converge on the mainland for the highly anticipated Motocross event. Bikers from St. Vincent & the Grenadines and neighboring islands St. Lucia and Grenada are expected to put on quite a show of biking skill for the two days of riding. A fantastic display of off and on road biking is expected at the 2007 Independence Motocross.

The Association is also working to complete the development of their very own track at the Diamond Estate. The SVG Motorcycle Association hopes that the general public will continue to support its events and that the corporate community will also lend their support in making Independence 2007 one to remember.
