Couples for Christ meet a success
It was really âThree Conferences in Oneâ last week, when SVG hosted 300 Caribbean members of the Couples For Christ (CFC) who came together to celebrate the first 10 years of CFC in the Caribbean.{{more}}
No one was left out, as a five-day Youth Camp saw 75 Caribbean Teenagers making new friends as they talked, listened, sang, prayed and played at the conference, which ran from July 25-29.
Handmaids of the Lord enjoyed their own full day Conference, including five thought-provoking talks from representatives throughout the region. The opening talk, âMade for Heavenâ, was presented by Miriam Sheridan of St. Vincent and the Grenadines to an attentive audience.
From Friday evening to Sunday night everyone participated in the vibrant Conference which saw the delegates packing the hall for praise and worship, inspiring talks, powerful preaching, and the Celebration of the Eucharist. Sundayâs Eucharist saw newly-appointed co-adjutor Archbishop of Castries, Robert Rivas as main Celebrant at St Johnâs R.C. Church, Mesopotamia, where CFC SVG also handed-over a keyboard generously donated by Winston Sardine. An inspiring music ministry for the entire conference was led by musicians of CFC SVG, ably supported by CFC musicians from Trinidad and St Lucia.
Since its first Caribbean presence in SVG in 1997, the CFC Movement is now powerfully established in 24 Caribbean countries. On this occasion, delegates were able to travel from Antigua, Barbados, St Lucia, St Maarten, Trinidad, as well as the Phillipines and USA. Specific talks were presented by the different countries, and Frankie Young of SVG spoke on âClaim to Nobilityâ under the main Theme of âHope in the Lordâ (Lamentations 3: 24)
The tranquil and serene setting of St. Josephâs Convent, Marriaqua enabled all visiting participants to see different aspects of St Vincent. Valley Couple Pam and Ken Browne, who led the local CFC team, were also pleased that many visitors chose to arrive early, to enjoy the hospitality of the Vincentian CFC members who gave the 200 visiting participants a truly Vincentian welcome. This was appreciated to the extent that CFC SVG members are being actively encouraged by the St Lucian visitors to make sure they come to St Lucia for the 2008 CFC Caribbean Conference!
