CDC pays respect to Masquerade legend

The Carnival Development Corporation (CDC) has expressed regret about the passing of Masquerade legend Mr. Vibert Ivor De Shong.

A release from the CDC issued on Monday said “Indeed, Mr. De Shong was instrumental in the sourcing of the first stage used for carnival Celebrations in St. Vincent and the Grenadines between 1984 and 2000.{{more}} Mr. De Shong was honoured by the CDC on the occasion of the Silver anniversary of June – July Mas in 2002”.

The release continues “Mr. De Shong’s exploits in the field of Individual masquerade competition will long be remembered and will be difficult to emulate down through the ages of Vincentian Carnival history”.

The CDC expressed deep sympathy to Mr. De Shong’s family, relatives and friends as well as to the Masquerade fraternity over the loss of this great carnival icon.
