Canadian Pan Orchestra in SVG
âGems and Friendsâ Steel Pan Orchestra from Toronto, Canada arrived in the state on Wednesday, July 4, 2007.
The Group is made up of fifteen women whose birth place is St. Vincent and the Grenadines, ably assisted by four males from Trinidad, and is managed by Monica Sandy-Wolkowski, Betsy Anthony and Grace Toney-Stephens. The Musical Director is Elton Jones from Trinidad.{{more}}
âGems and Friendsâ will be staging a series of cultural performances including Quadrille and Maypole dancing from Friday, July 13 – Sunday, July 22, 2007.
This will include two major concerts, one taking place at Government House on Friday, July 13 at 7:00 p.m, and the other being held at the St. Georges Cathedral on Sunday, July 15, 2007 at 6:00 p.m.
Guest Artistes from North America traveling along with the group are Syl McIntosh on saxophone, Vin Cato on pan and violin, and Erlene Williams-King, who will thrill audiences with her vocal renditions.
Local artistes will include the New Kingstown Chorale and the La Gracia Dancers, along with presentations from the Girlsâ High School and the National Society of Persons with Disabilities.
The Group will also perform at the SVG National Trust on Thursday, July 19, 2007 from 12.00 – 2.00 p.m. and the Girls High School on Sunday, July 22, 2007 from 3.00 p.m.
