Hairouna Optimist Club gives pillows to school

The Kindergarten students of the St. Mary’s Roman Catholic school last Monday received 75 hand-made pillows compliments the Hairouna Optimist Club.

Speaking at the handing over ceremony, Public Relations Officer (PRO) Deak Cupid told SEARCHLIGHT that one of the main interests of the group is to bring out the best in children in whatever way that is possible.{{more}}

According to Cupid, they are planning a reading project for primary schools which will begin with the Kingstown Anglican School. After the first project is completed, the group is also planning to visit the pediatric ward of the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital to read stories to the children.

The group was officially launched in March of this year, but was a member of the international organisation since 2006. It is made up of 25 registered members.

Expressing thanks to the members of the Optimist Club was the Principal of the St. Mary’s Roman Catholic School Sister Ivy Pacheco.
