Tsunami hits Barbados

A huge Tsunami struck Barbados last Friday and today many are thanking God for the experience.

Tackling Sin Ultimately Needs A Mighty Intercessor (TSUNAMI) is the name of a Christian based group formed by two Vincentian students pursuing studies at the University of the West Indies Cave Hill. The group, which is the brainchild of students Kerwin Laidlow and Tamira Browne, would be holding a month long full of activities for students at the University.{{more}}

Last Friday night over 150 students gathered on the University’s Guild Lawn to take part in a night of worship.

Laidlow said it was a one of a kind experience and that the students enjoyed. The evening highlighted talent by our own, Keisal Peters, also a student at the University, who wooed the crowd with her captivating voice with an original piece.

Laidlow told SEARCHLIGHT that the main aim of the group and the activities is to bring Christian and non-Christians from all walks of life to experience the love of Jesus Christ. The “mini gospel fest” as described by Laidlow would be held on every Friday for the month at the University’s campus.

He explained that the idea for the group sprang from a church jamboree in December, which he and Browne attended in Barbados. “When we went there we were so amazed by what we saw people doing for Christ, we thought to ourselves that we can do something for the Lord.”
