After going missing on December 24, 2006, Elroy “Red Head” Pope of Sandy Bay was found dead Friday, January 5, 2007 in Union Island.

On December 23, 2006 Elroy, who lives and works in Union Island, was playing Dominoes with friends at a shop in Clifton, when he left telling his friends he was feeling unwell.{{more}}

He was last seen at 2:00 a.m. on Sunday, December 24, when he awoke and left his house. On January 2, 2007 after a report was made to the Police that he was missing, a search team went out but returned without finding Pope.

It was not until Friday, January 5, when 7-year-old Kelson Derrick was playing in the bushes behind his Clifton home that he noticed a foul odour, and saw Pope’s decomposing body lying face down.

Police are carrying out investigations into the death. Pope’s body was returned to the mainland on January 9.
