Accepting the contributions on behalf of the service club was Rotary Director of Community Services, Garfield Williams who said that the financial assistance would help four orphaned children in Barrouallie.

Williams said that the children aged 12-17 years had parents who died from HIV/AIDS and now have no means of income. He however pointed out that because of the outpouring of love the youngsters would now have a good Christmas and New Year.

The Rotary Club South representative pointed out that his organisation was setting up a special appeal fund to assist disadvantaged children and had so far raised $44,000.

Also at the handing over ceremony, Joseph Lewis of New Horizons Investments made a contribution of $3,000 while Junior Mason and Angela Anthony of Scotia Bank made a donation of $1,770.

Williams also appealed to other companies and persons to make donations.
