Students to benefit from Sharmine Lee Scholarship

A group of web-based Vincentians have announced the Sharmine Lee Memorial Scholarship available only to fifth form female students.

The team at www.VincyCrew.com is offering two scholarships worth EC$1,000 each to honour the 10-year anniversary of the passing of Sharmine Lee who was a student at the St Vincent Girls’ High School and originally from Barrouallie.{{more}} Ten years ago, she took ill around the time of exit exams in Form 4 and later died at the Kingstown hospital. She was 15 years old at the time.

To apply, 5th form female students from any school must write an essay discussing the physical health challenges facing young Vincentians and what can be done to improve or prevent unfavorable health-related issues in young adults.

“Essays must be type-written expressing your own thoughts. Be as creative as you can be. Your essays will be posted online in our forums for review and comments by our members. Your names will NOT be posted online. Two essays will be chosen as the winners,” the organizers said in a news release.

The deadline for application is November 15.

Applications should be sent to scholarship@vincycrew.com or admin@vincycrew.com and must include: full name of the applicant; a contact telephone number; the secondary school currently attending; Principal’s name and telephone number; and form.

If an acknowledgement is not received within 24 hours, the application should be re-sent.
