Richards pulls in catch of the day

He is known in entertainment circles as Glen ‘Bump I’ Richards, with a number of hits over a long career in the calypso arena.

He created a stir last Monday with the heaviest catch on Fisherman’s Day, winning himself the title, Fisherman of the Day. Along with his three-member crew, captain Grantley Baptiste and Maurice John, they landed 535 pounds in their boat Determined.{{more}}

Richards and his crew collected $1,500.00 and a trophy. They beat Robert McVane who bagged 412 pounds. He received $700.00, while Rueben Bowens in the boat Shane hauled 319 pounds for $500.

Other prize winners on Monday were Stanley Bradshaw who had the largest number of fish with 149 heads for $300. He beat Rueben Bowens into second in the boat Shane whose 53 heads gave him $200.00. Third prize went to Glenroy Payne in the boat Okella. He had 46 heads and received $100.00.

Philroy Mathews brought in the heaviest single catch with a 57-pound fish in the boat Morning Five. Lenny Valary in the boat Confidence had a 38-pound catch for $75, in second and Carlisle Roberts in the boat Kellyann took third prize with a 32 pound catch.
