M-PESCO launches first medical fund
The Mount Pleasant Educational Sports and Cultural Organisation (M-PESCO) launched its first Medical fund last Saturday in Mount Pleasant.
The fund is called the ‘Earllando Shallow Medical/Benefit Fund’ in honour of Earllando Shallow who died from cancer of the liver a year ago.{{more}}
The fund will be used to assist persons in the area who are suffering from the same illness or any other life-threatening illnesses.
Speaking at the launching ceremony, Chief Executive Officer of the Social Investment Fund (SVGSIF) and feature speaker, Jomo Thomas spoke about the importance of voluntary service and complimented the organisation (M-PESCO) for their efforts. He also pledged his support to the organisation.
Other persons addressing the launching were Parliamentary Representative for the area, Girlyn Miguel, who praised the organisation for its move in assisting those who are ill and unfortunate and pledged her support to the fund.
President of M-PESCO, Ray LaBorde also addressed the gathering. LaBorde said his organization had planned to set up a medical fund since the inception of the group and he is happy that the fund is now a reality.
The family of Earllando Shallow also paid tribute to the deceased and complimented the organisaiton for its efforts.
M-PESCO has announced that they will be holding a monthly fund raiser and the organisation is appealing to all to support a worthy cause.
