Rotary Doctors reach Greggs

Sunday March 19, 2006 was a memorable day in Greggs when over 300 residents benefitted from the Rotary Village Doctor Outreach by the Rotary Club of St. Vincent.

322 persons were treated by a number of doctors and medical specialists, including Rotarians Dr. Francois Truchot and his staff, Dr. St Clair Thomas, Dr. Jim Henderson, Dr. Vernon Scott and Dr. Colin Boyle (whose 4-legged patients included large numbers of dogs and goats).{{more}}

Great service was also given by non-Rotarian doctors who volunteered their services, and these included Dr Miriam Sheridan, Dr Chellise Cato, and Dr Bertram Stephens.

Pharmacist Lisa DeFreitas provided a valuable Dispensary service and the medics were supported by Rotary Club President Leroy Lewis and his team of Rotarians, Inner Wheelers, Rotaractors, Peace Corps Volunteers and supporters.

The Rotary Village Doctor Outreach is part of the Community Service program of the Rotary Club of St. Vincent which has been providing service to St. Vincent and the Grenadines since 1971.

Over 6,000 Vincentians have been helped by the Village Doctor Outreach, first introduced in 1996. Venues have included Fancy, Sandy Bay, Mt. Bentinck, Stubbs, Layou, Barrouallie, Rose Hall, Spring Village, Chateaubelair, Bequia, Canouan and Mayreau.
