Home Economics Competition Today

The Peace Memorial Hall will serve as the venue for a rich display of originality and creativity today, when Sixty-five (65) students representing both secondary schools and tertiary institutions in the state vie for top honors in the finals of the 2006 ECGC Home Economics Food Competition. {{more}}

The ceremony which commences at 3:30 this afternoon will hear addresses from ECGC’s Marketing Manager, Martin LaBorde as well as representatives from the Ministry of Education.

The three top prizes for the competition are: 1st Place – a winner’s trophy and a cash prize of one thousand dollars ($1000), second place – a trophy and five hundred dollars ($500.00) and third place a trophy and three hundred dollars ($300.00). A special trophy will be awarded to the male with the best entry in the competition. A prize will also be given to the school from which the overall winner emerges.

The competition which began on February 7th, 2006 required each participant to prepare an original dish using either flour or rice produced by ECGC.
