Persons here who have lost mail destined to Trinidad and Tobago have been given the assurance that the authorities will get to the bottom of the matter very soon. {{more}}

These assurances came from Post Master General of the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Postal Corporation, Celene Jack. In a brief interview with SEARCHLIGHT last Tuesday, Jack said that mail went missing since last December and they are working diligently to resolve the situation. However, she also mentioned that the general public has been rather calm and understanding about the whole situation.

A similar problem occurred in mid 2005, at which time a team from St. Vincent and the Grenadines Post was dispatched to Trinidad and Tobago to sort out the situation. The team met with representatives from LIAT, Trinidad and Tobago Postal Corporation, and airport authorities.

Jack also outlined that a teleconference was held on Monday with authorities in Trinidad and that very stringent measures have already been put in place by all stakeholders to curb and solve the problem.
