The Calder Seventh Day Adventist Youth Group donated $500 worth of stationery supplies to Her Majesty’s Prison last Thursday, February 16, to be used in the literacy program at the correctional facility.

Coordinator of the group, Delores Baptiste-King donated the supplies on behalf of the group. She said the donation was made possible by a fundraising drive executed by the members of the group. She added that they are always willing to help in the development of society.

On hand to accept the donation was Chief Prison Officer Brenton Charles. He stated that the literacy program is now better able to extend “education behind the walls”.

The Chief said he viewed the donation as a lifetime gift, and reiterated the point that the supplies will be used for their intended purpose, and be fully utilized.
