Barbados Labour Party shows support for ULP

Top ranking members of the governing Barbados Labour Party (BLP) have pledged the party’s continued support for the Unity Labour Party (ULP).

“We in Barbados and the Barbados Labour Party (BLP) stand solidly behind you and we hope that you will continue to be a part of the expanding pool of skills and services that will carry these islands forward,” said Dr. William Duguid, General Secretary of the BLP while delivering a brief address at the ULP’s 12th National Convention held at the St. Joseph’s Convent Marriaqua on Sunday, February 19.{{more}}

Dr. Duguid was part of a five-member delegation representing the BLP.

“It is a pleasure to address the ULP convention especially after its resounding victory,” said Dr. Duguid. He admitted that he had paid a lot of attention to the December 7 General Elections in St.Vincent and the Grenadines because the BLP and ULP have had a long relationship.

Prime Minister Dr. Ralph Gonsalves was congratulated by Dr. Duguid for “his dedication, stewardship and ability to motivate his members”.

Dr. Gonsalves boasted that contrary to what his critics thought, the ULP had received help from the ruling parties in Jamaica and Trinidad and Tobago.
