Balcombe: Dr. Gonsalves will lose his deposit

Cameron ‘Dinky’ Balcombe, the New Democratic Party (NDP) candidate who will face Dr. Ralph Gonsalves, political leader of the Unity Labour Party in the General Elections has promised that the Prime Minister will lose his deposit.

Balcombe, a newcomer to the political scene has labeled Dr. Gonsalves “a political man” who must not be given another chance.{{more}}

Addressing New Democratic Party (NDP) supporters at Mt. Bentinck on Saturday 17, the young man accused the Prime Minister of wanting to bring communism to this country.

“According to Dr. Ralph Gonsalves he want to take up where Maurice Bishop left off,” said Balcombe.

Balcombe made a call for political observers to come to St.Vincent and the Grenadines to monitor the General Elections for fear that the elections will be rigged.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Gonsalves told SEARCHLIGHT, Balcombe’s promise that he would lose his deposit does not merit a response. He added that when Balcombe himself has to try to win his deposit he would gain reason.

Dr. Gonsalves said that, in relation to the claims that he would take up where Maurice Bishop left off, he, at a political rally had pointed out he would continue the nationalist tradition of Caribbean icons such as Milton Cato, Ebenezer Joshua, Michael Manley, Rosie Douglas, Tim Hector, George Odlum and Maurice Bishop.

The Prime Minister said that his critics’ views of politics were limited.
